Clare Daley | 100 CLUB

From all at Pontypridd United, we would like to say a huge congratulations Clare Daley!

Clare Daley | 100 CLUB

A special occasion for our No.5 Clare Daley at yesterdays match. Daley was already sitting comfortably with her 50th appearance honour. Before her appearance vs Cardiff Met 25.09.22  she was at 99 and will now join the 100 club following her 100th league appearance yesterday.

Daley has been with us since the 15th of September, 2015. Over the last 7 seasons she has always given 100% on the pitch and lead by example.

Over the years she has played as a forward, in mid-field and in defence. A true team player and as fast as lightning! She has also recieved many POTM during her time at the club. Manager’s Player of the Season 2020-21. Players’ Player of the Season 2020-21 and Top Goal Scorer 2015-16.

Here's what our No.5 had to say ahead of yesterdays match;

Q1. Today marks a big occasion for you personally. It will be your 100th league appearance for the club. How are you feeling ahead of the game vs Cardiff Met?

I feel very proud to make my 100th league appearance for such an incredible club, being able to share the pitch with such great teammates, not just today but during my previous 99 games for the club, has been a real privilege.

I’m confident that we can put in an impressive performance against Cardiff Met, we have exceptional talent within the squad as well as a genuine togetherness and we’ll certainly be looking to challenge Met for the points!

Q2. How would you describe your time at the club over the past few seasons?

Enjoyable! The past few seasons have been extremely exciting, especially on a club level with the merge of Cyncoed & Pontypridd and on a personal level, changing position from a striker to a defender.

To see the club grow, particularly over the last couple of seasons, with countless hours put in by volunteers to improve and develop Pontypridd United, has been amazing to witness. The effort put in from all the staff and players in raising our standards and building on our performances has been brilliant. I’m extremely fortunate to have met some great people and made great friends since joining the club in 2015!

In terms of transitioning into the back line, I owe big thanks to Fern Burrage-Male for recognising and backing me to do a role in defence, I really enjoy it (as well as the occasional gander over the halfway line).

Q3. With 99 appearances currently, what game stands out for you the most and why?

One of my most memorable games was during my second season at the club (2016-17), where we beat Cardiff Met 4-1 at home… I scored 2 goals, which doesn’t happen often, and I got an assist too. Met went onto win the FAW Cup and League Cup that season so it was a good result for the club against tough opposition. A repeat performance today would be perfect!
