Club Statement – Drew Lewis
Official Statement and Update

Pontypridd United can confirm that Drew Lewis has made the difficult decision to step down from his role as Head Coach of the Women’s 1st Team at this time.
After open and honest discussions, Drew has chosen to take some time away to focus on his mental health and wellbeing. The club fully supports this decision and will take proactive steps to ensure he receives the care, understanding, and support he needs during this period to find the passion and energy he and the players deserve.
Drew has been an integral part of Pontypridd United, showing exceptional commitment, professionalism, and care for both players and staff. His contribution to the women’s programme and youth pathway has been invaluable, and he will always remain a key member of the Pontypridd United family.
While Drew will be stepping away from his first team duties, this is not a goodbye. He will return to the club and resume his roles as Head of Youth and U19s Head Coach. In the meantime, the club will ensure stability and continuity across the women’s setup, building on the strong foundations he has helped to create.
Since Drew shared his struggles with mental health, the outpouring of support from players, staff, supporters and coaches around the leagues has been a huge step for him to know he has this support. This speaks volumes about the respect he has earned through his hard work, integrity, and genuine care for everyone involved in the game.
Everyone at Pontypridd United would like to thank Drew for his honesty, dedication, and passion. The club stands fully behind him and will continue to support him on his journey back to full health and back into his roles.
