One of Pontypridd Town’s young stars Efa-Preece Jones was called up for her first Wales camp with the U-17s last week. The defender met up with the squad for four days in which they played a friendly against a Manchester United development side resulting in a 2-1 win!
We caught up with Efa to find out all about her experience…
Well done on your first call up for Wales U17 how excited were you?
Thank you, very excited, I wasn’t expecting to be called up, so it was a nice surprise!
How was your first experience of national camp?
Really positive, I enjoyed every bit of it, and it definitely exceeded my expectations.
Can you tell us your highlight of the week?
It would have to be getting on the pitch in the win over Man United and getting a well done from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer!
What did you take away from the camp?
I feel like I have gained confidence on and off the pitch and the level of coaching has helped me better my understanding of the game.
Looking forward to next season what are your personal goals?
I would like to make the most of the game time and experience in the Genero Adran Premier league with Pontypridd Town, a few more goals and to get another opportunity to wear the Welsh shirt!
