Another season has flown by and it's time to recap on what has been a fantastic campaign for Pontypridd United. Twenty games, 35 goals and 31 points saw the Dragons win the Conference Plate for the second season running!

Phase one saw Pontypridd United remain unbeaten for seven games but after losing out on top-four qualification by the difference of one goal, the Dragons were determined to perform well in phase two and remained unbeaten, having only lost seven games this season.

Phase two kicked off away to Aberystwyth in a tense 2-1 win thanks to Carys Bufton’s last-minute winner! Next up it was a comfortable 2-0 win at home to Abergavenny followed by a 0-0 draw to Barry Town United.

Then it was back to Abergavenny where the Dragons sought redemption for the heartbreak of missing out on the top four in a five-goal thriller! Barry Town United were a tough opposition the second time round and the team settled for another draw before it was back home to beat Aberystwyth 3-0 and lift the Conference Plate!

All in all a season of ups and downs but the team remained strong and united throughout the whole campaign. Olivia Francis is the top scorer for the 22/23 season having scored 11 during her first season with the Dragons. The 17-year-old is a budding talent and has impressed massively since joining in September so much so that she is up for Genero Adran Premier Young Player of the Season!

Looking forward we have our end-of-season club awards on Friday May 19th where we will be recognising and celebrating all the talent on and off the pitch at Pontypridd United!

Pontypridd United's men have had an action-packed debut season in the Cymru Premier, finishing 11th and surviving relegation to stay in the league next season. They scored a total of 22 goals in 22 games and will be looking to improve on their first campaign next season.

It was a busy campaign for our u19s team too who finished seventh in their league with a total of 27 points! Layla Cooper scored six goals this season, taking the title of top goalscorer with Illani Fletcher coming in at a close second with five goals. Standout moments from the season include being the only team to take points off Pencoed in a 1-1 draw after an 88th-minute equaliser from Erin Parry, a five-goal win over Cascade and a close 5-3 win against Abergavenny!

The future is looking bright for the Dragons youth players, congratulations to Chloe Christy who has been awarded Manager’s Player of The Season and to Erin Williams who takes Players’ Player of The Season! Another congratulations to Nia Mullock-Williams who has been awarded Most Improved!

Looking forward to the 23/24 campaign, James Fishlock, who recently extended his contract with the senior team, is eager to increase the momentum he built this year, and with a squad packed with such bright talent, all eyes will be on a spot in the top four next season.
