New Club Appointments

20 Feb 2024

Pontypridd United Football Club are delighted to welcome Hugh Field as our new Chairman going forward.

Hugh, an avid supporter and existing board member of the club, commented, “It is with great honour, and a degree of humility, that I have accepted the position of chair. With the support of my fellow board members, owners, sponsors and all volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes, we will strive to do justice to their belief in the club”

Hugh will step up as chair following the resignation of Paul Ragan. Paul leaves the Dragons after two years, having had a significant impact on the club.

On his departure Paul said, “It has been a huge two-years for the club, we have exceeded all expectations with a fast-developing academy, improved from a UEFA Category C to B, and we saw the Men’s first team achieve, for the first time in the club’s history, the dizzy heights of the JD Cymru Welsh Premiership. My focus now turns to my role as CEO at Principality Plastics Warehouse and to enjoying our next home game against Colwyn Bay on Saturday 24th February, 12.15pm kick off."

“I’ve been proud to be associated with everyone at Pontypridd United FC and made many friends along the way. I will continue to support the Board and very confident the great work will continue under Hugh’s committed leadership as new Chair.”

Hugh added, “Paul has been tremendous for Pontypridd United, having lead the club from relative obscurity to competing in the Premier League of Welsh Football. On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Paul for his contributions and I wish him well for his next adventure."

Pontypridd United Football Club are also delighted to announce the appointment of Darren Haines as our new General Manager.

Darren adds general manager to his CV, already being an owner, board member and sales executive for the club.

On his appointment Darren commented, “I hope with this new role I can help the club to push on as needed. We can look to work together, not only as a Board, but as an extended family of supporters, helpers and those who work behind the scenes to ensure all aspects of the club continue in a positive manner and we remain United.”
